Project description
Wenger Engineering GmbH acted as general contractor for Fraunhofer IWES in Bremerhaven, designing, planning, and building the Hydrogen Lab Bremerhaven (HLB). The test center focuses on the interaction between wind turbines and electrolytic hydrogen production.
Electrolyzers and hydrogen applications with a total power of up to 10 MW can be tested on ten test pads. The grid emulator, which can be used to test the limits of power electronics, is unique worldwide.
The hydrogen produced is sold to external customers via a trailer filling station.
